Their features are that the students learn Japanese starting at elementary school to 6th grade(Y6), and you can continue learning it from 7th to 12th grade(Y7 – Y12) as a elective course.

2. International exchange achievements and how we came to conclude international exchange agreement

International exchange with St. Andrews High-school was suggested by Lora Kawaguchi, our assistant language teacher in 2011. We started off talking on Skype during our 11th and 12th grade elective classes. Since then we have been contacting them several times a year, introducing each others culture and exchanging opinions on themes during class and English club activities. In academic year of 2013, we contacted them using Haiku as material through a student from our school that was studying at Australia at the time.

3.The effect and image of our international exchange agreement

We can have real-time contact naturally with the students from St Andrews High-school because the time difference between our school and St Andrews High-school located in Queensland in Australia is only one hour. This is a win-win project because we can not only improve our students’ English skills by communicating in English with them, but can also improve Japanese skills of students from St Andrews High-school by communicating in Japanese. We will study about social tasks together in “Global•Studies” and “Cross-cultural Understanding” class, both installed as a school designated subject for Super Global High-school, and will try to improve the students’ cross-cultural understanding and communication skills. We will fulfill our duty as a base school for the purpose of fostering students with a global perspective and as well as a model school of our region, by widely opening up to the public about our activities.
