“Aquatic Organism Exhibition”, planned and conducted by students from the Science club every year, was held from August 5th to the 9th at Ehime University Museum. This year’s theme was creatures living around the waterside of Matsuyama. They displayed fishes, amphibious animals, reptiles, mollusks, and plants in their 30 water tanks. We are sure that the visitors enjoyed not only listening to Science club member’s explanations, but also taking local creatures picture book created by the members back to their homes, actually touching the creatures, feeding them, and joining quiz and stamp rallies produced by Science club and Art club members. This event was a big success and we had over 4000 visitors.
This event’s preparation and searching scenes of the Science club members were filmed and broadcasted on NHK General Shikoku+ (August 8 AM7:30 ~ 8:00). Many skills of catching creatures in the water were introduced by the members during the show. They also showed fish swimming in the Shigenobu river, infiltration water welling up, caution points when playing by the river, and so on. The scene where Yasuda, the head of the Science club, explains about dragonfly naiad was especially interesting, and the announcer was overwhelmed by his amount of knowledge.
