Four students from our school took off from the Matsuyama airport to Sacramento airport at 8:40 this morning, being sent-off by their parents. Their main purpose is to join International Peace Day Event being held on September 26th as Sacramento Matsuyama Sister City visitation group member representing Matsuyama. This is our second visit following last year. We will have a speech on the hopes for peace while performing what we have practiced so far. In addition, we will introduce Matsuyama’s and Japan’s culture. We are going to visit JFK High-school, C.K. McClatchy High-school, Rosemont High-school, and Matsuyama Elementary School and will tour around the campus, join their classes, and have cultural exchange events. The students will stay at the homes of students from JFK High-school at any time. The students are highly motivated in making this a meaningful visitation not only for themselves, but also for staffs of Sacramento corporation who worked very hard for us, teachers and students we are planning to meet during this visitation, our school students who made crane origamis with peace messages, and others. The students are fully prepared because they have been constantly contacting students from JFK High-school who visited our school this July and with their host-families.
